Born on the 30th of January, 1887, Dr. Girindra Shekhar Bose, through his works came to be known as the “FATHER OF PSYCHOLOGY IN ASIA”. After passing out from Presidency College in Kolkata, Bose became MB in 1910 after which he brought his DOCTORAL THESIS under the name “Concept of Repression” that blended all the Hindu thoughts.
Bose’s journey of becoming a PSYCHOANALYST to being a PSYCHOLOGIST and then a PSYCHIATRIST, revolved around disputing FREUD’S OEDIPAL THEORY. Dr. Girindra Shekhar Bose is still known for his NON-WESTERN CONTESTATION OF WESTERN METHODOLOGIES. He though did not meet Sigmund Freud, they used to converse through letters. These letters are published in BOSE-FREUD CORRESPONDANCE.
