The Lalit Great Eastern, one of the oldest luxury hotels in Asia, has been converted by AMRI Hospitals

The Lalit Great Eastern, one of the oldest luxury hotels in Asia, has been converted by AMRI Hospitals into a 100-bed satellite facility for mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients. The hotel, which once hosted American author Mark Twain, Kings and Queens, World leaders and Nobel laureates, will be able to accommodate around 195 patients, across its single and double rooms.

The facility, which started admitting patients from late afternoon on May 12, 2021, will be providing all-round COVID care to patients admitted there, and has the option to add more number of beds by taking over other wings of the heritage hotel. The facility is equipped with 24x7 nursing care and doctors, oxygen support, Wi-Fi, and customised diet plans, based on advice of qualified dieticians.

At The Lalit Great Eastern satellite facility, AMRI Hospitals has also introduced Dozee Pro, the latest in remote patient monitoring system. The Dozee Pro is a mat, connected to censors and a pulse oxymeter, which is installed under the mattress of each bed, and will help monitor the vitals of all the patients. The system notes changes in a patient’s vitals through the patient’s physical vibrations and sends out signals to a laptop at the nursing station, from where nurses and doctors will be able to keep an eye on the condition of a patient.

*Mr Rupak Barua, Group CEO, AMRI Hospitals*, “We are very proud to say that today we have opened the satellite centre at The Lalit Great Eastern, which is one of the most prestigious and heritage hotels, where mildly symptomatic patients will be able to stay here comfortably. We have converted the hotel into a satellite facility, and it is equipped with round-the-clock nursing support and doctors at site, along with all emergency medicines, oxygen support, and necessary consumables. This is the fourth hotel we have converted into a satellite facility, as part of our endeavour to fight the virus, and treat COVID patients.”

AMRI Hospitals recreates India’s largest football stadium into a field hospital

Kolkata, 07.05.2021: AMRI Hospitals, one of Eastern India’s largest private healthcare networks, has turned Yuva Bharati Krirangan, (Salt Lake Stadium), India’s largest football stadium, into a field hospital, with around 250 beds for COVID-positive patients. The facility has been made operational from 7th May, 2021, Friday.

In its constant efforts to augment beds for management and treatment of COVID-19 patients, AMRI Hospitals has added another 250 beds to accommodate COVID-positive patients with mild to moderate symptoms. A one-of-its kind facility, all the beds at the field hospital is connected with liquid medical oxygen (LMO) supply.

The piped oxygen supply at each of the beds will help provide basic support to any patient who shows signs of dipping oxygen levels. An on-site Respiratory Care Unit has also been set up at the facility with four beds, which is equipped with critical care equipment and will help in stabilising a patient, in case anybody suffers sudden respiratory distress, which is often seen in COVID patients.

The field hospital will provide round-the-clock nursing care, oxygen support, on-site doctors, and specialists on call. The facility will also offer the service of VGo robot, which AMRI Hospitals launched last year during the pandemic to keep patients and their family members in touch, since visitors are not allowed inside COVID wards.

Besides having around 420 beds across the three units of AMRI Hospitals in Kolkata – Dhakuria, Mukundapur, and Salt Lake – the Group has three satellite centres running across the city. With the addition of the Salt Lake stadium facility, AMRI will have around 340 more beds outside the three units.

Mr Barua said, “We have received immense support from the State Government. With direct support from our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt Mamata Banerjee, AMRI is also planning to set up another field hospital at Netaji Indoor Stadium with around 200 beds. We are in talks with the Government to take up few more such facilities. We have also finalised our arrangement with The Lalit Great Eastern Hotel to set up another satellite facility with almost 200 beds.”

J.B.Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. announced its foray into Nephrology

J.B.Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. announced its foray into Nephrology

Mumbai, India May 6, 2021: J.B. Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in India & the leading player in Hypertension, announces its foray into the area of Nephrology with a new dedicated division called “RENOVA” which will endeavour to serve patients who are under treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease.

The new division will focus exclusively on comprehensive renal care ranging from the management of hypertension in Chronic Kidney Disease to End-stage renal disease. After successfully becoming one of the leading player in Hypertension with brands like Cilacar® and Nicardia® , JBCPL has now begun to also focus on patients with CKD.

With the introduction of this new division and patient-centric initiatives, JBCPL can help address the medical needs of patients with CKD. The launch of this division will also enable nephrologists and physicians to provide patients with different treatment options and ultimately improve the quality of life in these patients. JBCPL will continue to launch products under this division to achieve its objective of providing holistic support to CKD patients at every stage.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has emerged as a major cause of global morbidity and mortality with the Global Disease Burden report of 2015 labelling it as one of the most common causes of death. There has been a 37.1% rise in mortality over 10 years. In India, the burden of CKD has not been assessed properly, but it is estimated that the prevalence of CKD is 800 patients per million population and the prevalence of end-stage renal disease is 150-200 patients per million population. Unfortunately, only a small portion of CKD patients reach nephrologists and mostly in the later stages when the diseases has progressed. The segment, therefore, has a need for dedicated intervention.

“Being one of leaders in the hypertension segment, we realised that Chronic Kidney Disease is a major issue in the country and the numbers are rising significantly.  There are growing cases of hypertension associated with CKD and we believe this initiative will enable us service the growing unmet needs of CKD patients.” Mr. Nikhil Chopra, CEO & Whole Time Director, J.B. Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Limited, said.

He further added, “JBCPL remains committed to serving the needs of patients and the launch of the dedicated nephrology division is a testament to that fact. Besides the division launch, we will continue to create awareness about CKD and enable patients to reach out to physicians as early as possible.”
